In order to connect a laptop or computer to the
internet via Hughesnet, the following will be
installed:

  • Satellite Dish
A standard dish of 1.2m with a need to be installed
with a clear view of the sky. It is recommended to
install the dish antenna at least 1.5 m from the
ground or roof-top and out of reach of small
children. The dish is connected to the HN7000S
modem via a ODU unit to receive/transmit data over
the satellite via the Hughes HN Network Operations
Center (NOC).

  • Modem: Type HN7000S.
The HN7000S, is a high-performance broadband
satellite router designed to provide high-speed
access for the consumer, small office/home office,
and enterprise markets. The HN7000S operates
with all Hughes HN systems and uses the industry
standards DVB-S or     DVB-S2. Security is assured
through DES encryption and integrated conditional
access. The HN7000S supports advanced Quality of
Service features to ensure that customers get the
priority and bandwidth they require.
